10PRE-WEDDING HAIR TIPS By Alwyn Rea from Oxygen Hair Design, Midleton, Cork.A FABULOUS BRIDAL HAIRSTYLE STARTS WITH PRE-WEDDING CARE. LONG BEFORE YOU TIE THE KNOT, OBSERVE SOME GOOD HAIR-WASHING HABITS TO MAINTAIN ITS OIL LUSTRE. YOU CAN ALSO TRY SOME HAIR COLOURS YOU ARE INTERESTED IN.1LOOKING AFTER THOSE LOCKSEnsure your hair is in tip-top condition by taking care of it during the six months leading up your wedding, so that your hair is beautifully shiny and healthy.I would highly recommend Kerastase products, speak to a Kerastase expert to prescribe the perfect hair plan to suit you.2FINDING A STYLISTRecommendation is the safest way to source a hair stylist. Book at least six months prior to your wedding day as the best get snapped up well in advance.3WHEN TO BOOK YOUR TRIALChoose your dress before attending your hair trial. The style of your gown will help to determine the styleof your hair. Then schedule your trial three months before the wedding to allow plenty of time should you change your mind about the style. Collect photo images of brides, celebrities, models, anyone whose 4look inspires you, to share with your stylist.REGULAR HAIRCUTSAt your trial your stylist can advise whether you need to grow your hair. If your hair is very long or unlayered it can be difficult to manage and style. This will limit the styles your stylist can show you at your trial. Regular trims are a necessity for healthy looking hair, so ask your stylist for advice on how often you should5have your hair trimmed.ON YOUR TRIAL DAYWear make-up to the trial and don’t allow too many friends and family to accompany you. Be clear about what you like and don’t like. You may need more than one hair trial to try different styles, this gives youthe chance to see what suits you best. Once you’ve completed the trial and you are 100% happy, make sure you take plenty of pictures as reference.6 COLOUR CHANGEIf you’re planning to change your hair colour, do so well in advance of the big day: your wedding week is not the time for a surprise7HAIR EXTENSIONSFor brides who are trying to grow their hair, extensions are great if you want to create a little more volumeor length and no one needs to know! Check out our Oxygen Clip-In Boutique; a private consultation area where we can apply and advise the perfect extensions or hair piece for you.8ACCESSORISEThere are so many great hair accessories available for brides now, but in keeping with the hairstyle, hair accessories need to complement one another. You may change your mind about accessories after the hair trial so ensure they are returnable .PRODUCT-FREE ON THE DAYHave clean dry hair on your trial and wedding day. Avoid using conditioner that morning (unless advised by your stylist), especially a leave-in one. Stay away from silkening products that can weigh your hair down, making it slippery for the stylist to work with. I advise my bridal clients to wash the hair the night before.WHAT TO WEAR ON THE MORNING OF THE WEDDING Remember to wear a button-down shirt when you’re getting your hair done on your wedding day, as pulling a top over your head is a big no, no!At Oxygen Hair Design we can take care of your hair right up until your wedding day, from colouring to cutting, applying hair extensions and, most importantly, making sure your hair is in its best condition by prescribing a Kerastase home care plan for you.The wedding journey 112Cork 20169 10
